In real estate, I love finding ‘the time-capsule’ property. They’re usually not very marketable, but they are super fun to look at– like this condo in Chicago for example. Austin Powers would be soooo jealous!
A penthouse built in 1972, which has retained its original decor and furniture, is currently on sale in Chicago for just $158,000. The living room includes an eye-catching, bright green circular couch.
The condo was first put up for sale in 2012. At the time, it received only ordinary interest with regular showing inquiries, Rosenbloom said.
It came back on the market on Thursday and is now gathering an increasing amount of attention.
'Suddenly, it's all the rage,' Rosenbloom said. 'I've got people who love the wallpaper and the furniture.'
A 1,800 square feet condo built in 1929, which also has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is located in the same zip code area, is currently listed on Zillow for $199,900 - about 26.5 per cent more than the 1970s apartment.
Another 1972 condo located in Winston Towers is up for sale as well, but its original decor and furniture are gone.
Can you imagine how we’ll look back on our design choices in 40 years? I wonder if they’ll hold up…
